Last
year, Chris and I did a two-part series on adopting millionaire
thinking and how that helped us to very rapidly achieve our dream life.
Some of you reading this might be thinking, “but I just want to get out
of debt, I don’t need to be a millionaire.” But I want you to
understand that it’s just as easy to become a millionaire as it is to
get out of debt, if you have the right mind-set.
Over the next several issues of Wealth Revolution, I will recap some of the key points we made in those sessions that helped us to go from zero to $5 million in a few short years. Building our cash flow and net worth helped us grow our relationship as a couple and also our family with two beautiful children.
Principle #1: “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” Prov. 27:7
What do you think it means to be a millionaire or financially independent? Is it hard work? Do you believe that you could never be a millionaire? Is it something that only doctors and lawyers can achieve? Your beliefs about yourself, money, and what’s possible dictate whether you will ever get there. A few years ago, Chris and I attended a millionaire conference where the participants were asked, “What were you taught about millionaires growing up?” The answers were astounding and included everything from: “they are greedy,” “they were born with silver spoon in their mouths,” “they walk over others to get to the top,” “they are mean and stingy.” Consider this: if you hold deep-seated negative (and incorrect) thoughts about the wealthy or about becoming a millionaire, it will be impossible for you to ever become one. After all, no one wants to be a greedy, cut-throat, and stingy person.
